Why would Denver Broncos head coach Gary Kubiak let everyone know who the starting quarterback would be right now? He could make their opponent prepare for both quarterbacks next week!
That's the sentiment of many fans and media on the worlds ever-changing social media platforms.
BSN Denver actually asked Kubiak that exact question, and before the inquiry could even be completed, he abruptly blurted out, "I'm not worried about that. I'm worried about my team and if our guys know what we're doing." For coach Kubiak, his team understanding the direction and plan is far more important than trying to fool a coach who will probably assume that Peyton Manning is starting anyway.
After today, there are no more questions. Kubiak finished his answer by saying, "They know exactly what we're doing now and we're very excited about our opportunity."
Was Kubiak trying to avoid distraction? He didn't exactly say, "YES!" But he did say, "I do what's best for the team and I thought today was the best day to do that."
It's very clear to me that Kubiak did not want this hanging over his teams head. Not only do his players get to move on and prepare without all of the questions surrounding their every turn, they also seem excited about the resurrection of the ancient one. Emmanuel Sanders said, "Me and DT told him (Peyton Manning) today that we hadn't seen that kind of smile on him in five or six weeks."
On if the Broncos are looking to enter 2016 with Brock Osweiler as their franchise quarterback, Kubiak said, "There's obviously no discussion about whats going to happen in the offseason and those type of things but we think the world of him. He's done a hell of a job. He's played extremely well in tough situations, he's a very tough kid.
And just like on Sunday night, Kubiak reiterated, "He know's exactly what we think of him."
