IRVING, Texas - Greetings from the Lone Star State, where YOUR Colorado Avalanche play the Dallas Stars at 7 p.m. MST.
Almost a full comedy of errors this morning for your humble correspondent, who drove to the American Airlines Arena expecting to attend the Avs' morning skate, only to see lots of people decked out in Dallas Mavericks and Los Angeles Lakers gear. Little did I know that the Mavs and Lakers were set for a 1 p.m. tipoff there. Fortunately, I was able to hustle back to my rental car (about the size of a shoebox) and crank all two-and-a-half cylinders of the car's power to make it to where the Avs were really skating, out here in Irving.
Not much different from Friday's press briefing. David Warsofsky, recalled from San Antonio, nonetheless will be the lone healthy scratch for the Avs.
I did ask Jared Bednar about a couple things, specifically about the goaltending situation moving forward. First off, there's nothing new/encouraging/discouraging from Friday's update on Semyon Varlamov, who has had a recurrence of some sort with his groin injury. I think this is a very worrisome situation, and here's why: it seems to me that, really, the Avs have no idea if he'll be able to return by the end of the month.
